You may be doing great work that’s contributing to your company’s growth but people outside your immediate team may still be unaware of it. Reason? Your work is more day-to-day and does not amount for a big, splashy moment. Building influence within your organisation can be crucial to your success. This blog article suggests ways in which you can achieve this:
• Figure out the touchpoints, that is, the areas which are beyond your own department or projects, and see how you can influence them through your role.
• Find out what the key stakeholders want. When talking to people outside your circle, change your language accordingly so it is relatable to them and figure out ways to work together.
• Get face-time with people who can influence your career positively. Talk about the work you are doing and have regular conversations with them so you are on the same page
